Mom's Best Meatloaf Recipe

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix the tomato sauce, barbecue sauce and sugar in a small sauce pan on medium heat. Stir often and remove from heat when it begins to bubble.

    In a large bowl, mix all but 3 tbsp of sauce into the meat. Set those 3 tablespoons of sauce aside to be used later. Add remaining ingredients to meat and mix through. Pack loaf pan with meat mixture, cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes take your meatloaf out of the oven, drain the fat and, leaving it in the pan, cut into 8 slices. (The easiest way to get your slices even is to cut the first slice right in the middle of the loaf, make the next slice right in the middle of one of the smaller pieces and so on until all 8 slices are cut.)

    Now pour the reserved 3 tablespoons of sauce over the meat loaf and return to the oven for another 30 minutes. Drain any remaining fat and allow to sit for 7-10 minutes before serving.
